MERCHANT BAR
Merchant bar is widely used in the manufacture & fabrication of a broad range of engineering products. Merchant bar plays a major role in our product range, types of mild steel bars include:

SECTIONS & CHANNELS
The sections rolled in the UK are predominantly produced according to BS4-1:2005 which converts imperial sizes to metric whereas on the continent the dimensions are metric.
The word steel sections refer to columns / beams and channels which are commonly used in building projects. Across Europe grades are standardised but sizes are not, continental beams are classed I sections (IPE etc) and columns are H sections (HEA etc) in the UK we use the terms U.B. (Universal Beam) and U.C. (Universal Columns).
Sections are commonly rolled in grades S275 & S355 we supply various lengths from stock and any non-stock items are available through our net work of suppliers.
HOLLOW SECTIONS
We have a comprehensive range of hollow sections (RHS, SHS & CHS) available from stock, predominantly in cold formed to EN10219 - S235 however we do have access to Hot Finished material in accordance to EN10210 through our supplier chain. Lengths range from 7.5 to 12.0 mtr as standard from stock (subject to size) but sections can be supplied in lengths up to 15.5 mtrs.
Dimensions for both Hot & Cold formed products are identical, but structurally the capacities are not so care must be taken to ensure that the correct grade is purchased for the intended application.
Please note we also have access to both Hot & Cold formed material to meet S355 specifications.
STEEL TUBES
We stock a comprehensive range of gas list tubing manufactured in accordance to BS1387 in both galvanised & self colour finish.
We also have access to Hot finished (EN10297-1) & Cold Drawn (EN10305-1) Seamless tubing which can be supplied in standard lengths or cut to size.
STEEL TUBES FITTINGS
We keep a range of quality galvanised malleable tube fittings designed for easy, fast and simple erection of rigid structures with the minimum of tools. There is no need for welding or bending as this system uses an hexagonal key to tighten the fittings.
We stock fittings to suit 1’’ N.B 1 ¼’’ N.B & 1 ½’’ N.B all of which complement our range of BS1387 tube, but other sizes are available upon request.

STEEL SHEETS
We keep extensive stock of Cold reduced & Hot rolled sheets, Hot rolled steel is a suitable product where thickness, strength & formability are important whereas Cold rolled applications often require tight tolerances and a smooth, paintable surface.

FLOOR PLATE
Floor plate or durbar plate is a hot rolled structural steel floor plate that has an evenly distributed, raised pattern which is integral to the product.
Its slip resistant surface is easy to clean & self draining, general applications include stairs, walkways, platforms etc.
Sizes available are 3.0mm to 12.5mm in standard sheet sizes which conform to: EN10025:2004. S275
2000 x 1000 | 2500 x 1250 | 3000 x 1500
Other sizes are available through our network of suppliers.
Please note the thickness is that of the plain plate exclusive of the raised pattern which is typically 1.5 / 2.2mm.
EXPAMET
Expanded metal mesh has a diverse range of properties and is available in both a raised & flattened pattern which makes it so versatile and appealing for many uses and applications.
Standard panel sizes are 2440 x 1220 and are available in Hot Rolled, Cold Reduced, Electro Zinc Plated, Galvanised, Stainless & Aluminium. Please contact our sales team for further details.
OPEN STEEL FLOORING
Open steel flooring is suitable for most flooring walkways, gantries, platforms etc and can be used upright as fencing.
The product is constructed by a forge – welding process in which the load bearing & transverse bars are heated & joined under pressure and it is constructed from mild steel to BS EN10025 S275.
Standard panel sizes of 6000mm x 1000mm are available from stock in both self-colour and galvanised finishes. Please contact us for further details of sizes.

RE-BAR
Reinforcing bar (or rebar for short) is commonly used throughout the construction industry for the reinforcement of concrete and masonry structures.
Not only is it available in bar form but it can also be supplied in the form of a reinforcement mesh (Standard panel size 4800 x 2400)
Stock sizes of rebar in 6.0 mtr lengths are 10mm, 12mm and 16mm Dia.
WELD MESH
Weld Mesh is manufactured in both roll and panel forms, it benefits from superior welding technology.
The horizontal & vertical wires are electrically welded at each intersection to form a virtually unbreakable mesh. Available in both self colour & galvanised finish this product has an infinite number of uses from enclosures, machinery & window guards.
Standard panel sizes are 8’ x 4’ but other sizes and apertures are available upon request.

HANDRAIL STANDARDS
We keep a range of hollow handrail standards in both self colour & galvanised finish (solid bars are available upon request).
Standards are upright posts that can be provided in various diameters designed to support various sizes of horizontal rails.

Shaped handrail sections are held on stock allowing for simple handrail systems to be created which could reduce the need for costly on site fabrication work when used in conjunction with our range of BS1387 tube.

BRIGHT BARS
Compared to normal mild steel, bright mild steels provide tighter sectional tolerances, increased straightness, and a much cleaner surface.
The main advantage of cold drawn steel is that steel can be bought closer to the finished machine size. Another benefit to bright steel bars are a marked increase in physical strength over hot rolled bars of the same section.
We keep a range of both metric & imperial sizes on stock in grades EN3B,EN1A & EN8 but other specifications are available upon request.
